Daajing Giids
Gentle inlet dive on the doorstep of the islands' ferry town
Area photo: Geofflos · Public domain
Daajing Giids is the town on Skidegate Inlet at the southern end of Graham Island, and the water off it gives one of the gentlest dives in Haida Gwaii. It is a shallow site with next to no current, which makes it a natural first dive before the deeper water of Rennell Sound.

The dive
The dive at Daajing Giids runs between 5 and 12 m, so the whole profile sits in shallow water. Current ranges from none to mild, which leaves divers free to settle and move at their own pace, and that combination of a shallow bottom and slack water is why the site suits beginners.
