The dive

The wreck lies off Ponta do Ribeirão, on the Praia do Curral side, only 50 m from the coast, in water that is calm and sheltered. The whole dive stays between 6 and 12 m around the remains of the Aymoré, a 60.7 m cargo steamer, which keeps it within reach of newly certified divers as well as advanced ones.

The Aymoré went down in bad weather on 27 July 1920, and after more than a century on the bottom the wreck is too old for penetration, so the dive stays outside the structure. Visibility ranges from 2 to 12 m. Boat trips offer either two dives on the Aymoré or one on the wreck followed by a second dive at Ilha das Cabras.
