Niihama

A one-minute boat ride to a shallow rocky site

Niihama is a shallow rocky site in the Namegawa area, reached by a small outboard boat one minute from the harbour. The maximum depth is 12 m, and trial dives and licence courses run here. Small animals hiding among the rocks are the main interest.

The dive

The dive stays within 12 m over a rocky bottom. Gobies, scorpionfish and nudibranchs shelter among the rocks, and most of what divers find is small. Lumpfish are also seen here.
