Søbadet is a shore site on the Lillebælt coast near Middelfart and one of the only multiple-level wall dives in Denmark. The wall steps down in tiers to a slope that ends around 25 to 30 m, and divers come for the unusual fish hiding in its caves and, in winter, for nudibranchs.
Also known as Sobadet.
Where it is and how deep
55.5171° N, 9.6995° EApproximate position — the dashed circle shows where the site lies; your operator's briefing has the mooring.
The dive
The first level of the wall comes at 7 m. It stands about 4 m at its highest point, with a plateau 2-3 m wide below it. Further down there is another wall and another step, and below that the bottom slopes away to 25 to 30 m. Along the way, tadpole fish and Yarrell's blenny are among the more unusual fish, and in winter nudibranchs are often common.

Season follows Lillebælt & Middelfart: Shore sites are dived all year; May to September is the best season for the Old Lillebælt Bridge, and winter, with water near 3 °C (38 °F), brings nudibranchs to Søbadet.
Know before you go
- The tide can be strong further out in the Belt, though it is seldom strong close to the shore.
