The dive
The boat runs about 5 km out from the Maceió coast, a ride of around 20 minutes, to a reef at 18 m. That depth is within the reach of a basic certification, so the reef is rated as a dive for newly qualified divers, but it is run for certified divers only and not as a try-dive.
The reef is a rock formation 70 m long. Most of it is relatively flat, and a few raised plateaus break up the profile and give the reef its character. The dive follows this rock at around 18 m, over the flat stretches and past the plateaus, before the ascent and the ride of about 20 minutes back to the coast.
