Dream Wall
Sea fans down a 40 m face between two of the island's classics

A wall dive on the stretch of Menjangan reef between the Anchor Wreck and Sandy Slope, with the face dropping to 40 m. Sea fans and coral formations grow down it and carry on into the shallow part of the reef, so the site reads well at whatever depth you decide to run, including on the safety stop.

The dive
The site is on the same continuous reef as the Anchor Wreck and Sandy Slope, and it is dived the way the rest of the island's walls are: a boat drop onto the top of the reef, a short swim to the lip, then over the edge. The face falls away to 40 m and there is nothing to stop you at any particular level, so the depth you run is a decision made on the boat rather than something the site imposes.
Follow the wall in one direction with the rock on your shoulder, then turn and come back shallower along the upper part of the face, which is where the dive finishes. Because the sea fans and coral growth continue into the first few metres, the safety stop is spent over reef rather than hanging in open blue, and snorkellers on the surface see much the same coral from above. Keep an eye on the gauge on the way out: the deep water stays available the whole dive.

Season follows Menjangan & West Bali: Divable all year thanks to the lee of Java; Apr–Nov is driest, and the wet season only affects surface conditions.
Know before you go
- The face runs to 40 m with no bottom under the route, so depth creep is the real risk here — agree a hard limit before you drop and hold it along the wall.
