Grönhögen stenbrott
Limestone quarry full of crayfish, dived in any weather
Grönhögen stenbrott is a flooded limestone quarry on southern Öland and a freshwater alternative to the sea. It is a good dive whatever the weather, which makes it the fallback when wind spoils the coast.
Also known as Grönhögen quarry.

The dive
Divers step in from the quarry edge, an easy entry that serves just as well for the climb out at the end. The basin is about 15 m deep, with shallower plateaus in places. Crayfish are plentiful, and perch and other fish move through the water.
