Tanjung Sari
Volcanic rock reef top on the cape between the Blue Lagoon and the harbour
Area photo: Bernard Picton · CC BY-SA 4.0
Tanjung Sari runs along the cape that separates the Blue Lagoon from the Padangbai harbour, at the southern end of the lagoon. A protruding reef top of volcanic rock gives way to a broad slope that levels out far from shore before reaching a sandy bottom.
Where it is and how deep
8.5325° S, 115.5145° EApproximate position — the dashed circle shows where the site lies; your operator's briefing has the mooring.
The dive
The site begins where the Blue Lagoon slope ends, on the left-hand side. The reef top lies at 8 m and is built of volcanic rock formations, and from there the bottom slopes down to 18 to 20 m and stays fairly flat a long way out. Farther out the slope continues to about 30 m, where it ends on sand. Following the slope towards the channel leads to canyon-like rock formations, and the local whitetip reef sharks move back and forth between this site and the Ferry Channel.

Season follows Padangbai & Candidasa: Diveable all year; mola mola are likeliest July to October, while the November to March wet season cuts visibility and makes the islets harder to dive.
