Tanjung Jepun lies on the west coast of Amuk Bay, north-east of the Blue Lagoon, and is the main training and snorkelling spot at Padangbai. Its centrepiece is an artificial reef built around a small boat scuttled in 2008, with Buddha statues nearby. Blue-spotted stingrays are the site's signature animal.
Also known as Jepun, Tanjun Jepun.

The dive
The dive centres on an artificial reef with a small wreck, sunk deliberately in 2008 at 18 m, and a group of Buddha statues set out on the bottom. A sandy rubble area starts at 5 m and gives way to a sloping bottom, and the site has no current. Blue-spotted stingrays are seen here more reliably than anywhere else in Bali, and frogfish and other rare macro subjects make it a very good night dive. The site doubles as the Padangbai base for snorkelling and for Open Water courses, and the wreck lets novice divers practise basic wreck skills.

Season follows Padangbai & Candidasa: Diveable all year; mola mola are likeliest July to October, while the November to March wet season cuts visibility and makes the islets harder to dive.
