The first rocky bank off the beach between Palavas and Carnon, 400 m from shore and only 4 to 6 m deep: a strip of layered rock about 300 m long, eroded into cavities and overhangs, with a small ledge at its northern end. Plongée Carnon uses it for baptism dives, children's courses and first Niveau 1 dives, and the shallow water keeps it bright.

The dive
The site is the northern, shallow end of a rocky bank about 300 m long, lying 400 m off the beach between Palavas and Carnon. You drop onto a small ledge that rises to about 4 m, with the bottom around it at 6 m. There is no depth to manage and a lot of light, which is why baptism dives and children's courses run here rather than anywhere else on this coast.
The route is simply to follow the break at the edge of the plateau. The rock is layered and erodes unevenly, so the face of the ledge is full of small cavities and overhangs worth looking into: keep an eye on the faults and a small octopus will often be looking back. Corb, common sar and gilt-head bream work the rock, and red mullet forage in groups on the sand at its foot. In summer the water can reach 26 °C.

Season follows Palavas-les-Flots, Carnon & Villeneuve-lès-Maguelone: Clubs dive year-round, but logged visibility sits near 2 m and the sea at 10-12 °C from January to March; one club runs seven days a week in July and August.
