A 21 to 24 m ledge with nudibranchs and passing game fish

Kevs Ledge is a mid-depth ledge on the Ponta do Ouro reef line, dived between 21 and 24 m with an average of about 22 m. Access is by boat off a surf launch. The ledge holds nudibranchs, anemones and the usual reef crowd of butterflyfish, batfish, damsels and trumpetfish, with game fish moving past off the edge.

The dive
The boat runs out through the shore break and drops you onto a ledge that Underwater Explorer lists at 21 to 24 m, with an average working depth of around 22 m. That profile sets the shape of the dive: you have a defined window on the bottom, so the usual approach is to get down onto the ledge, pick a direction along it and work back up over the shallower rock as the dive runs on.
Along the ledge itself the life is dense and small. Nudibranchs and anemones sit on the rock, with butterflyfish, batfish, damsels and trumpetfish over it, and a variety of game fish working the water off the edge. That split rewards diving it close: stay low against the structure for the macro, then look out into the blue rather than up over the reef top when something bigger comes through.

Season follows Ponta do Ouro: Resident dolphins are seen year-round; shark activity at Pinnacles and whale migration peak July-October.
