The dive
Laje dos Trinta lies 5 miles off the Porto de Galinhas coast, and the dive reaches 30 m, the depth that gives the site its name. Reef heads on the bottom form corridors and tunnels. That puts it in a different league from the inshore reefs 200 m off the beach, which reach only 12 m, and close in depth to the artificial-reef wrecks at 32 to 35 m.
The site is a fish dive. Rays, moray eels and dog snapper are found there, along with turtles, and even sharks can be seen. At 30 m the no-decompression time on a single tank is short, so the profile and gas are planned before the descent, and the dive ends with a slow ascent and a safety stop.
