Shark Point

Whitetip and blacktip reef sharks resting on the reef and patrolling the wall

Shark Point sits on the eastern edge of Siargao, where a sloping reef gives way to a wall. It is the island's reef-shark dive: whitetip and blacktip reef sharks are seen regularly, resting on the reef or patrolling along the wall, without the crowds of better-known shark sites in the Philippines.

The dive

The site spans 10 to 25 m, from a sloping reef at the top to the wall it turns into lower down. Current is occasional along the wall, one reason the site suits divers with some experience. Whitetip and blacktip reef sharks are the reason for the dive, some lying still on the reef and others cruising the edge of the wall.

Season follows Siargao: March to May brings the calmest seas and clearest water; from November to February bay diving continues but the Pacific sites, Blue Cathedral included, are less predictable.
