La Llosa
A 50 m rock on a migration route, with schools of large groupers
The southern tip of a long rock slab in the outer waters of the Tabarca reserve, where a rock about 50 m long rises from 24 m to 19 m. Big schools of large groupers, barracuda, dentex and tuna gather over it, and the caves around its base hold as much life again.
Also known as Llosa, Sur de la Llosa.

The dive
La Llosa, technically Sur de la Llosa, is the southern end of a large slab of rock that stretches toward Alicante. At that edge a rock about 50 m long and 8 to 10 m wide rises from the seabed, from 24 m at its base to 19 m at its top.
The central rock is the core of the dive, with big schools of large groupers, barracuda, dentex, amberjack, tuna, pandora, morays, octopus, slipper lobsters, nudibranchs, spiny lobsters, eagle rays and butterfly rays. Caves and cavities around the main rock hold as much life again, and because these outcrops sit on the migration routes of large fish, the sightings can be surprising.
