Sec des Belges

A line of pitons from the surface down, best in the top 12 m

Sec des Belges is an alignment of submerged pitons and rocky slopes out towards the Revellata, and it is the outlier among Calvi's secs: the rock reaches the surface, so the dive does not have to be a deep one. Scubago rates the 0–12 m band the most interesting ground on the site, with the slopes running on down to 20–30 m.

The dive

The site is a line of submerged pitons and rocky slopes that start at the surface and descend gradually to 20–30 m, so the shape of the dive is yours to choose. Follow the rock down and you get the whole of that descent; stay up and you get the part Scubago rates highest, the 0–12 m band where there is still light in the water and no clock on the bottom time.

The obvious plan is to do both: drop along the alignment for a look at the deeper pitons, then work back up and spend the long tail of the dive shallow. That suits a mixed boat, since the deeper end gives experienced divers something to descend to while the top 12 m is easy enough to hold for the rest of a tank. Boats run out from Calvi's Port de Plaisance.
