Sec du Caldanu is a submerged rock off the Calvi coast, rated for intermediate to advanced divers, with fauna Scubago describes as abundant: grouper, lobster, moray eel and a general Mediterranean fish population. The ground it offers between 10 and 40 m is varied enough that the depth you take is a real choice rather than a given.

The dive

The sec gives you a choice of level. The site runs from 10 m down to 40 over a mix of reliefs — drop-offs, rocks and plateaus — and it is rated for intermediate to advanced divers. Shallow, the plateaus make an easy, well-lit dive with plenty of time on them; over the edge, the drop-offs take you to the depth limit of the site quickly, so the plan matters more than the route.

Fauna is the draw as much as the shape of the ground. Grouper are the ones to look for and they are on the list here, along with moray eels in the rock and lobster in the cracks, with a general Mediterranean fish population filling in around them. Plan it multi-level — deep first along the drop-off, then back up onto the plateaus for the long shallow tail — and keep something in hand for the ascent.
