Cape Bezdan

The Blue Cave above an abyss on Koločep's southern shore

Cape Bezdan sits on the southern shore of Koločep, where the island's northern cliffs give way to slopes and shallows. Its Blue Cave opens over an abyss that descends almost 40 m, and divers come for the cave and the sudden drop-off below the island's lighthouse.

The dive

Beneath the lighthouse the gentle slope suddenly drops sharply into the abyss, and this transition is the centre of the dive. The Blue Cave opens above the drop, which descends almost 40 m. Lobsters, octopuses and moray eels live among the rock alongside sea sponges and snails.
