Air Wall
A vertical face dropping from 5 m to 30 m off Gili Air

One of the largest walls in the Gilis, a vertical drop from 5 m to 30 m running along part of the shore of Gili Air. In an area whose sites are mostly slopes and sand, this is the exception: a face you swim alongside rather than a bottom you follow, with the whole recreational depth range available on a single dive.

The dive
The wall runs along part of the shore of Gili Air and is one of the largest of its kind in the islands, a face that drops vertically from 5 m to 30 m. You enter over the top and go down the face rather than over a slope, which makes buoyancy the main thing to watch: with nothing under you to bounce off, depth is held on the lungs alone. Pick a level and stay on it.
The dive is then a straight run along the wall in whichever direction the water is going, with the face on one shoulder and open water on the other. Turn on gas rather than on distance and come back along a shallower line, so the return leg is also the ascent. The top of the wall at 5 m is the natural place to finish, and it holds the safety stop against something solid rather than in the blue.

Season follows Gili Islands: Divable year-round; Apr–Nov brings the calmest crossings, and mola mola occasionally appear Aug–Oct on the deeper sites.
