Africville
An Atlantic wolffish living under a concrete slab at 18 m (60 ft)
Africville Park is a Halifax shore dive entered down a boat ramp, with a sloping wall to the left that drops quickly into deep water. Anemones, sea stars, urchins and crabs are abundant on the slope, and a concrete slab at 18 m (60 ft) is home to an Atlantic wolffish.

The dive
Divers walk down the boat ramp and follow the rapidly sloping shoreline on the left-hand side. About 60 m (200 ft) along the sloping wall sits a 1.5 m (5 ft) square concrete slab at 18 m (60 ft), home to an Atlantic wolffish. The slope keeps going past 24 m (80 ft) into darker water.

Season follows Halifax & St Margaret's Bay: Late August and September bring the warmest water and the odd seahorse; winter, free of rain runoff, brings clear water.
