La Entrega

A 9 m coral plateau used for discovery-dive training.

La Entrega is a coral plateau off Santa Cruz Bay in Huatulco, no deeper than 9 m and well protected. One dive centre uses it for the confined-water part of its discovery dives for uncertified divers. The trade-off is company: the bay is very crowded with snorkellers, carries a lot of boat traffic and has a noisy shoreline, and the coral has been badly damaged.

Also known as Entrega.

The dive

The site is a coral plateau just off Santa Cruz Bay, and well protected. Its deepest area measures 9 m, so the whole dive stays shallow. One dive centre runs the confined-water part of its discovery dives for uncertified divers here, as an alternative to a pool, before taking them on a short dive.

The plateau is very crowded with snorkellers and sits in an area with a lot of boat traffic and a noisy shoreline. The coral has been badly damaged over time by the crowds of swimmers.
