Hottane
Clear water under the salinity layer
Hottane is a drop-off on the Atlantic Ocean Road coast with hardly any current. Visibility is good in the upper water and very good beneath the salinity layer, and Norway lobsters, nudibranchs, crabs, anglerfish and catfish live on the rock.

The dive
The Hottane drop-off is dived over a recommended range of 5–36 m. The site has kelp forest, rock and a sand bottom, and the face falls in vertical drops or in steps to about 30 m. The water is calm, with hardly any current along the rock. Lobsters and Norway lobsters, crabs and nudibranchs live on the face, and anglerfish and catfish are part of the fauna.

Season follows Kristiansund & the Atlantic Ocean Road: The Atlantic Ocean Road centre runs from early June to late September; the Kristiansund club boat goes out every Sunday all year.
