Feggameni Reef
Groupers along the deeper rocks of a reef off Petra
Feggameni Reef is a rocky reef beside the islet of Agios Georgios off Petra, in north-western Lesbos. Fish shoals meet divers from the first minutes, and the rocks hide nudibranchs and lobsters, while groupers patrol the deeper parts where the reef falls away.

The dive
The dive begins at 5 m, and shoals of saddled breams, goldlines and picarels gather around divers almost at once. The route then runs clockwise, following the shape of the reef with the rocks on the right as it deepens to 20-30 m, where groupers are most likely.
At the far end the reef reaches its deepest point, somewhere between 25 and 40 m, with cardinal fish, colourful sponges, nudibranchs and lobsters between the rocks, though the whole site can be enjoyed from shallower water.
