Kavalouros Reef
Petrified tree trunks among small caves and arches off Sigri
Kavalouros Reef surrounds a small island off Sigri, near the western tip of Lesbos. Small caves and arches line the route alongside petrified tree trunks, and the reef splits into three dives of different depth, so novices and experienced divers can share the same boat.
Also known as Kavalouros.

The dive
The reef divides into three routes by experience: 5-10 m, 5-15 m and 5-25 m. Along the way, small caves and arches open in the rock and can be explored, and petrified tree trunks lie beside the path.
Below 15 m, channels formed between the rocks hold groupers, cardinal fish, colourful sponges, nudibranchs and lobsters; in the shallows, rock formations and many fish dominate.
