Peñón S'Aguilot
Tunnels through the rock, a small wreck and a plane wing between 6 and 35 m

Peñón S'Aguilot is a rock off the west coast of Mallorca dived from a boat, with depths from 6 to 35 m. The rock is cut with holes and tunnels to swim through, there is a small wreck to visit and the remains of a plane wing, and the life runs from barracuda and conger eels to octopus, cuttlefish, nudibranchs, yellow madrepora and fan worms on the rock.

The dive
Depths run from 6 m down to 35 m, and the profile is set by how deep the group wants to go. The rock itself is the feature: there are several holes and tunnels to go through, and the route strings them together, passing through the rock and back out along its outside. Depth is the thing to manage here, because no depths are published for the tunnels or the wreckage and the base of the rock goes well past a standard Advanced limit.
Beyond the tunnels there are two pieces of wreckage to visit, a small wreck and the remains of a plane wing, which give the dive its two fixed stops. The life on the rock is dense: octopus, cuttlefish, scorpionfish and rockfish in the holes, red mullet, moray and conger eels in the cracks, barracuda in the water, and for the macro eye nudibranchs, yellow madrepora coral, sea feathers, sabella and red serpula fan worms on the rock. The ascent goes back up the rock to the shallows.

Season follows Mallorca: One Santa Ponça centre runs daily April–October and weekends only Nov–Mar; May–Sep brings the calmest seas and warmest water, with leisure-boat traffic in the bays at the height of summer.

- The site runs to 35 m; agree a maximum depth before the dive and keep the tunnels and wreckage stops within it.
