A sheltered site between 5 and 20 m inside a protected cove, with several passages through the rock to follow, described by the catalogue as a place for nice, gentle diving. Small life is the draw — nudibranchs above all — with barracuda passing often and octopus settled on the spot.

The dive

Secaïns sits inside a protected cove, and that shelter is the character of the dive. The ground runs between 5 and 20 m, with several passages through the rock to follow rather than one open slope, and the average depth is about 12 m with the deepest point at 21 m. It is rated CMAS one-star or Open Water, and no current is recorded here, which is why the catalogue calls it a place for nice, gentle diving.

What the site holds is small. Nudibranchs are its signature, there is plenty of other small life with them, and octopus like the spot; moray eels lead the logged sightings with a hundred and seventy-five. Barracuda pass often, and they are the one thing here that asks you to look up. Watch the shallow end on the way back: between the inner rocks, the Secains de Dins, and the shore there is only 3 m of water, and boats use it.
