Cap de Cala Figuera

Cap de Cala Figuera is the headland dive just below the lighthouse in the southwest of Mallorca, a rock plateau with a maximum depth of 20 m. The plateau is home to a large variety of fauna, with barracuda, octopus, moray eels, damselfish, scorpionfish, groupers and cuttlefish over rock and seagrass, and the site is listed for beginners and advanced divers alike.

The dive
The site sits just below the lighthouse on the cape, and the dive is a tour of the plateau that spreads out from the headland, with the maximum depth at 20 m. There is no single deep feature to head for, so the route works across the plateau, moving between the rock and the areas of seagrass, and the shallow maximum means the whole dive can be taken slowly with plenty of no-decompression time in hand.
The plateau is home to a large variety of fauna. Barracuda are in the water over the rock, octopus, morays and scorpionfish sit in the holes, damselfish hang over the reef, groupers can be found on the rock, and cuttlefish are on the operator's list alongside the seagrass areas. With no deep section, the dive can finish anywhere over the shallower rock of the plateau for the ascent.

Season follows Mallorca: One Santa Ponça centre runs daily April–October and weekends only Nov–Mar; May–Sep brings the calmest seas and warmest water, with leisure-boat traffic in the bays at the height of summer.
