The dive

The dive is a tour of what remains of a colonial ship: along the route lie cannons, anchors and the stones that once formed the Sacramento's ballast, spread over the bottom at the entrance to the bay. The deepest point is 32 m, which keeps bottom time short and makes this a dive for advanced divers.

Visibility runs from 15 to 30 m. The draw of the site is its history: the galleon led a fleet on the Atlantic crossing to Salvador for the Companhia Geral do Comércio do Brasil, carrying João Corrêa da Silva, governor of Bahia, and a cargo of copper and tin, and it went down on arriving at night in a heavy storm on 5 May 1668.
