Kaminada means chimney, and the site is a rock passage entered at about 16 m and exited at about 8 m, 4 nautical miles by boat from Porto Koufo. The surrounding seabed drops to about 60 m, but the dive itself is the climb through the chimney, with small creatures nested on the walls on the way up.

The dive

Kaminada means chimney, and the dive is exactly that: a rock passage you enter low and leave high. The boat run out from Porto Koufo is 4 nautical miles. The chimney entrance is at about 16 m, on rock that continues down well past it, since the surrounding area reaches a depth of about 60 m, so how much of that slope you use before the chimney is a matter of plan and certification, not of the cave.

Inside, the passage climbs. You navigate up through the chimney with the walls close on both sides, and the reason to go slowly is what lives on them: small sea creatures nested on the cave walls, the kind found only by putting a light close to the rock. The exit is at about 8 m, which means the cave does the ascent for you; you come out already in the shallows and finish the dive over the rock outside.

  • Overhead: the chimney is a through-passage from 16 m to 8 m; follow the guide, keep fins off the walls and do not enter if the exit is not agreed.
  • Depth outside: the surrounding seabed reaches about 60 m and the chimney entrance at 16 m is far from the deepest point available; fix a maximum before the descent.
