A ridge dive east of Teluk Maya, off Tomia. You drop into a sandy bay studded with giant barrel sponges and follow the reef onto a protruding ridge of hard corals that falls away into a steep slope and wall. Wakatobi Dive Resort rates it 6-50 m and intermediate, and the ridge is known for large frogfish before the dive turns to macro along the fringing reef.

The dive
You go in over a sandy bay rather than onto the reef itself, and the giant barrel sponges standing off the sand are the first thing you pass. From there the route turns onto the reef and you keep it on your right shoulder, following it toward the protruding ridge that forms the body of the dive. The reef top above it runs at 3-5 m, and the profile the resort publishes for the site spans 6-50 m.
The ridge is crammed with corals and drops away as a steep slope and wall, which is the wide-angle part of the dive and the stretch known for large frogfish. Later the route follows the fringing reef and the focus turns to macro: pygmy seahorses, nudibranchs, flatworms and shrimps. If the current builds along the ridge, it does not have to be fought out - the dive can be finished in neighbouring Teluk Maya instead.

Season follows Wakatobi: Diveable year-round; July–September dry season typically brings the clearest water.
Know before you go
- Current along the ridge can build during the dive; the published guidance is to leave the ridge and finish at nearby Teluk Maya rather than swim against it.
- The ridge falls into a steep slope and wall that runs to 50 m, so it is easy to drift deeper than planned while following the coral.
