Three-petal cavern where a sponge-carrying crab hides

Grotta della torpedine is a simple cavern on the Costa delle Miniere whose survey plan looks like three petals: three long, roomy chambers with clear water. It is an easy dive to 15 m, and the chambers are home to shrimp, fish and a very large conger eel that is often found in its den.

The dive
The three elongated chambers are wide enough to be dived either close to the floor or up in the shallower part of the cavern. Fish and shrimp live inside, along with the sponge crab, which cuts a piece of sponge to wear as camouflage, and a very large conger eel is an almost permanent resident, often in its den.
