San Martin Sur
Four ledges at 5, 8, 14 and 18 m, then back up the far side of the wall

A stepped dive off Jávea with a profile that suits courses. The bottom drops in four ledges, at 5, 8, 14 and 18 m, down to a large stone that marks the way back up the far side of the wall, with sea bass, bream, damselfish, starfish and sea urchins as the typical Mediterranean company.

The dive
San Martin Sur is dived as a staircase. You descend in steps: the first at 5 m, the second at 8 m, the third at 14 m and the last at 18 m, so every stage of the dive has a reference point at a known depth. That structure is why the site works for courses: a student can settle at each level before moving on to the next, and the deepest point, 18 m, stays within Open Water limits.
At the bottom of the steps a large stone shows the way to ascend the other side of the wall, so the dive comes back up a different face from the one it went down. The fish are the typical Mediterranean set for this coast: sea bass, bream and damselfish, with starfish and sea urchins on the rock. The ascent up the far side of the wall brings you back to the shallows for the safety stop.

Season follows Costa Blanca: Dived all year, but the water sits near 14 °C from January to March and the season is treated as starting in spring; peak-season boat traffic closes some cave surfacing.
