Veril Grande
A shore-or-boat platform running from 15 m out to 40 m

A rock and sand platform in front of Saladar beach in Jandía, at the south end of the island, dived from the beach or by boat. The ground runs from 15 metres out to 40, so one site serves both a shallow shore dive and a deep one. Moray eels, groupers and stingrays are the most logged animals here, with barracuda over the platform.

The dive
The site is a rock and sand platform in front of Saladar beach in Jandía, at the southern end of the island. It can be entered from the beach or reached by boat, and the ground runs from 15 metres down to 40, so the level of the group decides how far out and how deep the dive goes rather than the terrain doing it for them.
The mix of rock and sand is what the dive works: hard structure to search and open bottom between it. Groupers, moray eels and stingrays are the animals divers log most often here, and barracuda hold in the water above the platform. Eagle rays are the sighting to watch the blue for, though they are recorded far less often than the rest.
The shallow end at 15 metres is the part that suits everyone, and it is where a beach dive stays. Going out to 40 turns the same site into a deep dive on a short clock, planned before entry and turned on gas. The ascent runs back up the platform to the 15 metre ground, where the stop is easy to hold over structure rather than in open water.
