Bajo de Ses Caletes
A shoal from 24 m of sand up to 3 m below the surface

A shoal in front of Ses Caletes, a little-known cove on the stretch of virgin coastline between Portinatx and Cala San Vicente. It rises off a sandy bottom at 24 metres to within 3 metres of the surface, and that isolation on sand is what makes it a meeting point for the life in the area.

The dive
The shoal lies in front of the cove of Ses Caletes, on the undeveloped coast between Portinatx and Cala San Vicente. It rises from a sandy bottom at 24 metres to a depth of 3 metres, and standing alone on the sand like that makes it a meeting point for the aquatic life in the area — what lives here is concentrated on this one piece of rock.
Work it from the bottom up. The shoal is cut with caves and cavities, and from May to June Mediterranean slipper lobsters move into them. Cephalopods use the site to lay their eggs, and scorpion fish of all sizes sit out on the rock where they are easy to swim straight past. The shallow top at 3 metres means the end of the dive and the stop both happen on the site.
