Punta Galera
A north-coast site dived anywhere between 12 and 40 m

One of the better known sites on Ibiza's north coast, dived anywhere between 12 and 40 metres, which is why operators list it for all levels: the group's certification sets the depth rather than the site. Barracuda, golden groupers, moray eels and banks of common two-banded sea bream are resident, and larger pelagic fish pass through.

The dive
Punta Galera is on the north coast of Ibiza and is dived between 12 and 40 metres, so the first decision is which of those bands the group is working. Newer divers stay in the upper part, shallow enough for a long bottom time; anyone with deep training can go deeper and shorten the dive to match. Sea conditions here are usually good, which is part of why the site is dived so often.
The fish are the reason to come back. Barracuda hang in the water off the rock, golden groupers and groupers hold their positions in it, moray eels are in the cracks, and banks of common two-banded sea bream drift over the top. Larger pelagic fish are a possibility rather than a promise, so it pays to keep looking out into the blue as well as at the rock in front of you.

Season follows Ibiza & Formentera: Logged dives climb from April, peak in July and August and fall away through November; December to March activity is negligible on both islands.
