Cala Llonga Cave
A wide 4-9 m entrance into a chamber with an air pocket

A cave at Cala Llonga entered through a wide opening between 4 and 9 metres deep. Once inside it is possible to climb up to the surface of the water, where an air bubble is trapped under the rock, before dropping back down and swimming out. There is not much marine life — shrimps and different types of crab — so the cave itself is the dive.

The dive
The way in is a wide opening in the rock at Cala Llonga, sitting between 4 and 9 metres deep, which makes it easy to find on the way in and easy to see on the way out. Beyond it the cave opens into a chamber where the water surface is trapped under stone: it is possible to climb up into the air bubble and look around before dropping back down and retracing the line.
It is not a site to come to for fish. There is not much marine life in the cave, though crustaceans use it — shrimps and different types of crabs in the crevices. What the dive gives instead is a shallow overhead: the published depths are for the entrance, and inside the chamber it is gas, light and the way back to that opening that shape the dive rather than the no-stop clock.

Season follows Ibiza & Formentera: Logged dives climb from April, peak in July and August and fall away through November; December to March activity is negligible on both islands.
Know before you go
- Everything past the entrance is overhead: the only way out is the wide 4-9 m opening, so this is a guided cavern dive with lights, not a swim-through to explore alone.
- The air bubble in the chamber is trapped gas, not a breathing supply — surface into it to look around, then go back on the regulator.
