The Jakljan sits upright on the seabed between Novi Vinodolski and the island of Krk in 42 to 51 m. Two anti-aircraft guns are visible at bow and stern, her cargo is completely preserved and the wreck is in excellent condition, but the depth puts her past recreational limits. Bream, monkfish, a very large conger and well-camouflaged scorpionfish live on her.

The dive
This is a technical dive. The Jakljan lies in 42 to 51 m between Novi Vinodolski on the mainland and the island of Krk, so the shallowest steel is already past recreational limits and the seabed is at 51 m. Plan it as a decompression dive with the appropriate gas and a boat crew who know the site and the position.
She sits upright on the bottom, which makes her easy to read once you arrive. The two anti-aircraft guns, one at the bow and one at the stern, are the landmarks; the cargo is completely preserved and the wreck is described as in excellent condition, so a run from one gun to the other along the deck takes in the best of it without going into the hull.
The fish are typical Adriatic: bream and monkfish around the structure, plus a very large conger that lives on the wreck and dragonheads, the scorpionfish, camouflaged against the steel, so watch where you put your hands. Time on the bottom is short at this depth: agree the route on the boat and leave the wreck on schedule.

Season follows Kvarner: Peak season is May to September and conditions hold into October; from winter into early spring the bora churns the water and brings current, with the sea at 12–14 °C.
