Maman
Two parallel sponge-covered rock ridges from 8 to 28 m, five minutes from Rab

Maman is a bay on Rab close to Supetarska Draga where two tongues of rock run parallel to each other underwater, from 8 m down to 28 m, covered in colourful sponge. It is a five-minute speedboat ride from the dive base and a relaxed profile, with conger, octopus, lobster and the lesser slipper lobster in the rock, damselfish over it and gurnard on the sand.

The dive
The boat ride is short: Maman is five minutes by speedboat from the dive base and sits in its own bay very close to Supetarska Draga. Drop onto the top of the rock at 8 m and orient yourself on the two tongues of rock, which run parallel to each other underwater.
Follow one ridge down. The rock runs from 8 m to 28 m and is covered in colourful sponge, and the holes in it are where the animals are: conger, octopus, lobster and the lesser slipper lobster that the operator singles out. Schools of damselfish hang over the ridge, nudibranchs sit on the sponge, and John Dory pass along the rock. Look on the sand for gurnard.
Cross to the second ridge at your turnaround and work back up it towards the 8 m top, which gives a long, gently shallowing return. The operator describes the profile as relaxed, and with everything between 8 and 28 m it can be dived as the deeper first dive of the day or a comfortable second one.

Season follows Kvarner: Peak season is May to September and conditions hold into October; from winter into early spring the bora churns the water and brings current, with the sea at 12–14 °C.
