Morappu
A volcanic rock drop-off in a calm lake

Morappu is a shore dive from the Morappu campsite on Lake Shikotsu, the caldera lake in Hokkaido. The draw is a rock drop-off raised by volcanic eruptions, which falls to 20 m, in water where waves are few through the year.

The dive
The dive starts from the beach at the campsite and follows a rock face that the volcanic eruptions pushed up. The drop-off runs down to 20 m, and the water is calm through the year.

Season follows Lake Shikotsu: Diving runs all year; late June to August is the top season, and January and February bring dives under the ice.
