Poropinai is a shore entry on Lake Shikotsu, the caldera lake in Hokkaido, with water of outstanding clarity. The bottom runs from 3 to 20 m, and a jetty on the shore holds large shoals of fish, so the dive suits a range of experience levels from beginner to advanced.
Also known as ポロピナイ.

The dive
The dive starts from the beach and works down a bottom that runs from 3 to 20 m. The water seldom clouds over the year, so the clarity stays high on most days. Under the jetty, shoals of Ezo dace and rainbow trout gather, and at busy times the shoals pass 1000 fish.
