The Chitose River source is the head of the Chitose River, a freshwater dive at Lake Shikotsu. The dive is a shallow river drift, a format that is rare anywhere in the world, and stays within 4 m of water, with a rating from intermediate to advanced.

Season follows Lake Shikotsu: Diving runs all year; late June to August is the top season, and January and February bring dives under the ice.
