La Xinxa
A small tunnel lined with coral and sponges

A rock formation on the L'Escala coast dived between 8 and 20 m. The route borders the rock from north to south to a second rock that stops short of the surface, where a small tunnel is filled with coral and sponges, then follows the bottom east and down to 20 m before circling back to about 9 m.

The dive
The dive starts by dropping down the rock and bordering it from north to south, which puts you quickly onto a second rock that does not reach the surface. In it is a small tunnel, filled with small coral and sponges — the feature the site is dived for, and short enough that it reads as a swim-through rather than an overhead.
From there the route heads east and descends gradually along the bottom to 20 m, the deepest part of the site. The way back circles the rock formation and brings you up to about 9 m, which leaves the last stretch of the dive shallow enough to spend the remaining gas on top of the rock rather than on the ascent.

Season follows Costa Brava: Water runs from about 13 °C in February to 25 °C in July and August; no L'Escala centre publishes closing months, and the tramuntana can keep boats in port in any month.
