A narrow tunnel through the point to Les Cambres

The headland where the Montgrí, Illes Medes i Baix Ter natural park begins, and the coast's best-known tunnel: from the buoy you drop to 15 m and choose between the rock and a narrow passage that runs through the point to Les Cambres. Orca Diving works the site between 12 and 27 m; the catalogue gives 20 m as its maximum.

The dive
You go down the buoy line and stop at 15 m, and the dive splits there. To the left, a few metres from the boat, is the tunnel the point is known for: it runs through the headland and comes out on the Les Cambres side. It is narrow in some sections but has no major branches, and the operator's advice is to go with a guide if it is your first time through.
The other way is the rock itself, between 12 and 27 m, though the catalogue puts the maximum at 20 m. The rock holds typical Mediterranean fauna: lobster back under the ledges, eels in the holes and octopus out on the open rock, with algae, sponges and sea stars over the surfaces. This is also the point where the natural park starts.

Season follows Costa Brava: Water runs from about 13 °C in February to 25 °C in July and August; no L'Escala centre publishes closing months, and the tramuntana can keep boats in port in any month.
