Limestone terraces descend like the tiers of a cake

A pinnacle near the Wayilbatan islands named for its stepped, layered appearance, the top breaking the surface at low tide and the structure descending in tiers from within 3 m of the surface. Its exposed position channels moderate to strong currents that draw dogtooth tuna, giant trevally and grey reef sharks, and the lower ledges at 15–25 m carry sprawling gorgonian sea fans.

The dive
The pinnacle breaks the surface at low tide and descends in a series of stepped terraces — the layered look that gives the site its name. From within 3 m of the surface the tiers step down to the lower ledges between 15 and 25 m, where the hard corals give way to sprawling gorgonian sea fans; below that the structure keeps falling to depths exceeding 40 m, though the dive itself lives on the terraces.
The site's exposed position channels moderate to strong currents, and the flow is what stocks the dive: dogtooth tuna, giant trevally and grey reef sharks arrive with it, so expect the briefing to set the route around the day's current. The terraces make the profile naturally staged — work the 15–25 m ledges among the sea fans first, then step up tier by tier and finish on the shallowest layers a few metres down.

Season follows Misool: Rough seas July–early September; visibility peaks in November and February–March, baitfish and mobulas arrive September–October, and May–June south winds bring more sharks.
