Badia de Tamariu
A shore dive 30 m from the base, inside a buoy line

The house reef at Tamariu, entered from the shore 30 m from the dive base beside the boat jetty. The most attractive part of the bay is reserved for divers and swimmers and secured by a buoy line, and the reef offers something for everyone down to a maximum of 15 m, with a listed average of 7 m.

The dive
The entry is 30 m from the dive base, beside the boat jetty, which makes this the easiest dive on the coast to repeat: kit up, walk in, and the reef is there. The part of the bay divers use is the most attractive stretch of it, kept clear of boats by a buoy line and shared only with swimmers, so the shallow ground can be crossed without watching the surface.
Depth is the reason it works as a first dive, a check dive or the last dive of a trip. The listed average is about 7 m and the maximum 15 m, so a tank lasts a long time and the ascent is never an event, and the current is listed as low, under a knot. Nothing about the bay has to be planned around, which leaves it free for skills, for a camera, or for the dive you do while somebody else is out on the boat.

Season follows Costa Brava: Surface water sits near 13 °C from January to March and peaks around 25 °C in August; local guidance is 5 mm in July and August, 7 mm April to June and September to October, drysuit the rest.
