Scoglio Penna
A crack lined with colourful cup corals on the swim back to the boat
Scoglio Penna is a sharp, narrow rock on the south side of Ieranto bay, facing Punta Campanella. Its steep walls are pierced by a natural arch and carry life on every side, above all on the seaward face, which drops past 45 m under red and yellow gorgonians.
Also known as Penna Rock, Scoglio a Penna, Penna.

The dive
The route usually starts on the north side of the rock and heads east. Passing fish such as amberjack and barracuda often swim by, and isolated boulders at about 20 m hide the dens of conger eels, white sea bream and brown meagre. The dive ends back at the boat through a crack at about 6 m, carpeted in brightly coloured Astroides cup corals and Parazoanthus.
