Alamanda is a reef along the Tulamben coast reached only by jukung, the traditional outrigger, which lets the dive start and finish wherever the reef is best. Its gentle slope breaks into coral bommies, rocky outcrops and soft coral, a change of scenery from the busier sites nearby, with fewer divers.

The dive
Divers enter from the small boat and gear up in the water, then drop onto a gentle slope that gradually turns into patches of coral bommies, rocky outcrops and soft coral areas down to about 30 m. Schools of fusiliers, anthias and snapper are common over the reef, while barracuda and trevally may pass by.
Conditions run from calm to light current. Because the jukung allows flexible entry and exit points, the dive can drift with a light current across the best stretch of reef and finish away from where it began.
