S'Agulla
Granite blocks from the surface to 22 m

S'Agulla is a rock on the Blanes and Lloret boundary with a dive that circles it through an area of large granite blocks. The ground runs from the surface down to 22 metres, which is why the catalogue puts it forward for snorkelling as well as diving, and why a group of mixed ability can work the same rock at different depths.

The dive
The dive is a circuit around S'Agulla Rock through large granite blocks, which is a particular kind of terrain: the blocks sit at angles against each other rather than forming a continuous wall, so the route is a series of gaps, corners and short swim-alongs rather than a single line. Depth is whatever you make it, since the ground runs from zero at the rock itself to 22 metres at the outer edge of the block field.
That full-range profile is the site's use. The catalogue calls it an ideal place for both diving and snorkelling, which on a rock running from the surface to 22 metres means a snorkeller on the top and a diver down among the deeper blocks are on the same feature. For a diving group it means a natural multilevel: work the deeper blocks first, then spend the back half of the dive shallow among the granite where the light is still good.

Season follows Costa Brava: Water holds above 20 °C from June to October and tops out around 25–26 °C in August; winter dives run at 12–14 °C.
