Eros Reef

Eros Reef is a reef dive on the north-east coast of Rhodes that combines cavities with a steep drop-off, with the maximum depth of the dive arranged between 24 and 30 m. It takes its name from a statue of Eros placed on the reef by a couple of divers who met, fell in love and married there, and the statue is as much the reason to dive it as the drop-off.

The dive
The plan is set before you go in, because the operator arranges the maximum depth between 24 and 30 m and the dive is built around that figure. Descend to the reef and work the cavities, which H2O Diving Center pairs with the steep drop-off as the two elements of the site; the cavities are the close-up part of the dive and the drop-off is the edge you follow at depth.
Somewhere on the route is the statue of the god Eros that gives the reef its name. It was placed there by a couple of divers who met, fell in love and married on this particular reef, and the guide will take you to it. From the statue, come back up the drop-off in stages to the shallower reef for the safety stop and the finish. No minimum level is published for the site, but with a planned maximum of 24 to 30 m it is a dive for Advanced Open Water divers.

Season follows Rhodes: May to October is the season, peaking July to September; centres still run in October, charter flights stop after October, and very little is dived from November to March.
