Sarı Mehmet Cape
First World War mine carts laid by the French against German submarines
Sarı Mehmet Cape lies between Turunç and İçmeler, a cape and its bay that make a reef dive for beginners and experts by day and a favourite night dive. Octopus, sea bream and moray eels live here, and far below a typical dive a series of First World War mine carts gives deep divers a piece of history.
Also known as Sari Mehmet Cape, Sarı Mehmet Burnu, Sari Mehmet.

The dive
The cape and the bay are dived between 5 m and 21 m, where octopus, sea bream and moray eels make their homes. The same stretch between Turunç and İçmeler is also popular for night dives.
Well below the ordinary profile, at 42 m, lies a series of mine carts dating from the First World War, placed here by French forces as a defence against German submarines. It is a dive for history enthusiasts trained for that depth.
