The entry-level reef dive: 18 m and a surprise ending

Jesus is an 18 m reef dive on the north-east coast of Rhodes and one of the easiest sites listed by H2O Diving Center: the minimum level is Basic diver, a step below the Open Water minimum the operator sets on its other 18 m reef dives, and the description is a reef dive that ends on a surprise spot. It sits among the cluster of sites around Anthony Quinn Bay.

The dive
The dive is a reef dive with an 18 m maximum, and H2O Diving Center pitches it at Basic diver level, below the Open Water minimum on its other 18 m reef dives. Descend onto the reef, follow the guide along it at the pace of the least experienced diver in the group, and treat it as a reef tour: the depth stays modest and the description is a reef-type dive rather than a wall or a cave.
Like Trooper and Ladiko Cove, the description ends on a surprise spot, which the operator keeps to itself. From there the route works back to the exit through the shallows. It is not a site to travel for on its own, but for a diver with a fresh certification, or one back in the water after a long gap, it is a sensible first dive of a Rhodes trip.

Season follows Rhodes: May to October is the season, peaking July to September; centres still run in October, charter flights stop after October, and very little is dived from November to March.
